OAC YOGA

Oakland Athletic Club yoga is a perfect way to relieve stress, improve flexibility and posture. Classes for the beginner, intermediate and advanced include Hatha breathing techniques as well as Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga.

Ashtanga Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with progressive series of postures - a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light strong body, and a calm mind.

Vinyasa means breathing and movement system. For each movement, there is one breath.  The purpose of vinyasa is for internal cleansing. Breathing and moving together makes the blood hot. The heat created from yoga cleans the blood and makes it thin, so that it may circulate freely. Movement and breath makes the blood circulate freely around all the joints, taking away body pains. When there is a lack of circulation, pain occurs. The heated blood also moves through all the internal organs removing impurities and disease, which are brought out of the body by the sweat that occurs during practice.
